MYDF Malaysia Final National Ranking DanceSport Championship 2011 successfully concluded

Randell Lim Xiu Zhen and Cindy Chung Sin Yee from Sarawak and Chua Zjen Fong and Evon Chong from Kuala Lumpur emerged Champions in the Grade A Standard and Latin categories respectively of the Malaysia Final National Ranking DanceSport Championship 2011 jointly organized and hosted by Johor DanceSport Association and Yih Yang Dance Studio on 23rd December 2011 in Muar, Johor.

Edwin Teo Chee Seng & Kimberly Tan and Alan Lim Yee Loon & Geilean Lam Li Eng from Johor were runners-up and third respectively in the Grade A Standard.

Coincidentally another two Johor couples, David Ang Han Siong & Esther Hong Hui Jun and Jacky Lim Yee Hsien & Jessie Pang Yin Qi finished 2nd and 3rd respectively in the Grade A Latin. Two couples representing Selangor, Leovin Yap Kheang Ming & Esther Chin Yit Yu and Russell Lim Jian Liang & Connie Chin Yit Ying were 4th and 5th respectively. Johor`s Edwin Teo Chee Seng & Kimberly Tan finished 6th.

It was a lovely surprise for the youngest couple who created history in the National championship series. Randell, aged 16 & 14 year old Cindy could hardly believe their ears when they were announced as winners in the Standard category. Earlier there was an air of excitement and anticipation of a new champion among the participants when defending champions for six years in a row, husband-wife couple of Anthony Chua and Anita Tan withdrew from the competition. Apparently the organizer had advised them to skip because Anita is expecting. Indeed the competition between Randell-Cindy and Edwin-Kimberly was down to the wire with Randell-Cindy prevailing in Tango, Viennese Waltz and Quickstep while Edwin-Kimberly were adjudged better in Waltz and Slow Foxtrot.

In the Latin category Chua and Evon showed the finesse and confidence from their year long training in China and exposure in WDSF international open competitions to comfortably come up tops.

At the conclusion of the Malaysia National Ranking for 2010-2011 season, veterans Anthony Chua & Anita Tan raked in 110 ranking points to bring home the Datuk Wee Jeck Seng Challenge Trophy for the Standard category. Chua Zjen Fong & Evon Chong from Kuala Lumpur obtained 146 points to earn the Latin Challenge Trophy.

MYDF President Mr George Tan presented the Challenge Trophies, medals, certificates to the winners. Also present at the event were MYDF Sports Director John Fam, Secretary General Mr Chester Lim, Council Member Mr John Chong, Presidents and Secretaries from the various states.
